Eskom Integrated Security System Upgrade

Design, integrate and test Eskom’s integrated access control system on all strategic sites, including power plants:

  • Design network infrastructure
  • Design and testing of the Access control system at the main entrance, buildings, and other areas for each site
  • Design and testing of CCTV system around the site perimeter and internal site locations as per Eskom requirements.
  • Develop a realistic deployment model
  • Full integration of security systems including sub-systems
  • Compile functional and technical specification documents
  • Provide technical advice and direction for equipment life cycle support for engineering resources that will be responsible for supporting these systems.
  • Set up a test environment for testing security technologies to align to use cases and functional specifications.
Eskom Task 614: Microgrid system design

Updating of Eskom’s design for a microgrid RT&D:

  • Position and orientation of the PV panels, cables and circuit breakers used, batteries installation and cooling thereof, Diesel Alternator installation and control hardware, inverter installation and cooling etc.
  • Prepare a review of the state of the art of micro grid system architectures, as reference for comparison with the ESKOM micro grid system.
  • Analyse and document system architecture.
  • Analyse and document the system design in terms of the dimensioning of the various components, such as cables, PV panel, Diesel Alternator, batteries, power electronics such as inverters and PV regulators, and circuit breakers.
  • Analyse and document the system operational control philosophy.
Eskom Task 551: Maintenance Planning

Updating of Eskom’s maintenance planning is a key Eskom project. The scope includes:

  • To create new Plant Maintenance activities
  • To revise an existing Plant Maintenance activities
  • Support outages site teams with best practices to achieve schedule excellence
  • Institute new and revised outage planning processes/procedures through training/ mentoring and simulation set ups.
  • Verify Standard Maintenance Procedures for new work utilise if applicable.
  • Compile work packages by conducting field inspections where required for new work and submit for approval.
Eskom Task 587: Mechanical and Civil Engineering Kriel Power Station
  • Optimise the performance of allocated plant
  • Ensure that the projects/modifications are delivered within the financial/cost and time frame requirements of the department while ensuring that agreed quality standards and scope of work are achieved.
  • Development of effective and sound maintenance strategies and effectiveness evaluation of those strategies to ensure high plant integrity, availability and reliability.
  • Prepare detailed scope of work for inspections and repairs to be carried out during boiler planned outages and monitor the technical aspects of such work during outages
  • Assist maintenance personnel in preparing detailed specifications and scope of work for tender purposes and do technical evaluation of those tenders
  • Perform plant audit and provide report highlighting all risky areas
  • Conduct root cause analyses (RCA’s) on plant failure incidents for problem diagnosis and ensure that all corrective actions that came out of the RCA’s are implemented and re-occurrence prevented.
Eskom Task 372: Outage Management Planning on all of Eskom’s coal fired power stations
  • The scope of Work is to provide Outage Management Planning on Primavera to Outage Management during the entire outage cycle from planning phase to execution phase.
  • Resources are deployed to Eskom’s Coal Power Stations
  • Ario has deployed 15 Senior planners with expert knowledge of Primavera P6, proficiency on Microsoft Projects and a good understanding of maintenance and project and outage planning
Eskom Task 454: Kusile Commissioning, RBO and Spares Engineering Services
  • Reviewing Kusile plant documentation and Eskom Standards, Directives, Processes and Procedures
  • Compilation of Kusile Maintenance Strategies and Maintenance Task Lists.
  • Compilation of Spares List Strategies (including but not limited to KKS number, spare description, spare technical description, minimum and maximum spare stock levels).
  • Development of Kusile Statutory Equipment strategies and procedures for compliance.
  • Compilation of Kusile Power Station Operating Technical Specification, Operating and Control Philosophies documents.
  • Provision of skills development, training and knowledge transfer to relevant Kusile Power Station staff
Eskom Task 131: Implementation and roll out of PCMs at Eskom project offices at Eskom Power Stations
  • Ario was appointed to provide resources for the roll out and implementation of all standard requirements documentation to the project offices.
  • Documents include PCM’s, policies, procedures, guidelines, governance documents, forms and templates. Ario performs operational (training) work to enable the business to adopt and implement the required documentation and PCMs.
  • The work was done in line with the Back to Basics Project Tools Programme deliverables.
Eskom Eskom B2B Consulting Work as a subcontractor to EON
  • This portfolio includes a full view of Engineering Work (all work or “order book” currently on hand, or in view), in addition to portfolio of engineering projects.
  • Development of engineering processes (PCMs), from which engineering objectives are realised in performance measures (KPA & KPI), based on a performance framework.
  • All processes were designed and implemented to integrate with current and future business systems, including Smartplant, Primavera, SAP and Prism.
Eskom Task 89: Engineering Change Management process at existing power stations Ario was appointed to provide Group Technology, systems integration department, with project engineering management (PEM) skills to execute the deployment of the Engineering Change Management (ECM) process at Eskom existing power stations
Eskom Task 272: Cost Estimating and QS Services for PDP Northern Grid
  • The scope includes providing cost estimating and quantity surveying services for PDP Northern Grid, including Medupi Power Station transmission integration, Borutho and Ngwedi projects.
  • This involves preparation of estimates, control budgets, procurement strategies, contract management, progress measurement, forecasting, contract close-out and reporting of work done on site.

Ario is on the Eskom panel for the provision of Configuration Management Services.Ario has been appointed by Eskom to provide CM services to the Eskom Centre of Excellence Sunninghill.The scope includes:
